Big Girl Bed

In preparation for the baby we got Kathryn a "big girl bed". We have been talking about it for weeks. We would ask her where the baby would sleep and she would always say "bed", who's bed? "mine". We then would ask her where she would sleep and she always said with "mom". We would giggle and then say no you get a big girl bed. She would get super excited and just giggle louder. She was so excited and wanted to help put the bed together. She slept so well and woke up happier than she has in weeks. Hopefully she will keep enjoying her bed and not have problems when the baby comes.

CEO

Westin received the CEO (Chief Example to Others) award for his class yesterday. He was super excited and enjoyed being honored with the other students by the Principal. I am so proud of how well he has done in school and more importantly how much he loves school. I am glad that he can be a great example to others and hopefully it will stay that way.

Easter

Easter was a very relaxing, and quite day for us. The boys got up way to early but where nice enough to get themselves ready for church and be quite while Kathryn still slept. They only had time to look through their baskets before we had to be leave for church. Kathryn had a very hard time leaving her goodies behind. They didn't get a ton of candy, the Easter bunny opted for pj's, legos (boys), Tinkerbell (Kat), and new water bottles. Church was really good and I was able to listen and feel the spirit in spite of my swollen ankles driving me crazy. After church the kids did the "hunt" for all the candy which really only Kathryn and Robbie where interested in.

They got 4 movies and immediately headed downstairs to enjoy them. My mom and Walt came over for dinner and we had a very lovely calm day. I loved not being rushed or feeling overwhelmed by all the chaos that usually comes with holidays. I loved being with the kids and Rob and just having some down time to watch movies and cuddle.

Spring Break

The boys have had the whole week off for spring break. I feel like it has been one lame week for them. The weather has been awful and so they are stuck indoors, add getting carpet on Tuesday and they where confined to the upstairs. It was a rough two days!!

Wednesday and Thursday where spent trying to put the house back in order. The playroom and the boys room were first, they are done and look great. I do need to think about decorating but that is the last thing on my huge list of things to do. We put the living room back together and cleaned the heck out of it. They have been huge helpers and I think they are enjoying having their own space back, as am I.

I finally decided they needed a little fun so we went to lunch and a movie on Friday. Rob's mom joined us and it was nice to see the kids enjoy getting out. I was exhausted by the time we got home as it was Kathryn's first movie and she was back and forth between my lap and her chair. Plus she didn't understand that she couldn't talk in the movie, needless to say it was a little stressful for me. Then we came home and I finished cleaning the upstairs and we got the boys another movie to watch that night. They have really missed having family movie night.

Saturday was spent getting the boys new beds, and trying to get the garage cleaned out and organized again. I am about ready to start pulling out baby stuff and will hopefully have everything ready by the first week in May so that I can just relax and enjoy the new basement.

Easter Egg Hunt

It has become a tradition to have an Easter egg hunt at the Dixon's. So on Sunday Jess and Cait hid 17 eggs for each child and then the kids headed out to find all the goods. It was a great day and we had a lot of fun watching the kids roam the yard. Kathryn just wanted to open the eggs and eat the candy inside before looking for more. It made for a long hunt, we finally sent the boys to help locate the remaining eggs. We then had a great dinner and celebrated Caitlin's birthday. The boys put on a little song for Caitlin's birthday, thank you Jess for accompanying them. It was a lot of fun and we really enjoyed the evening.

Saturday Soccer/ House

Saturday was filled with soccer and lots of house projects. I started out the morning by caulking the tile baseboards in the the bathroom. Then running Wes to a birthday party. Then by noon we had to be at Robbie's first soccer game. He was so excited that he actually got to go after getting tubes on Friday. He started out as goalie and didn't have to do a whole lot as his team had some really good defense. I didn't get to see the whole game but he played a little forward and the team won 4-0.

Then we headed to lunch with grandma and papa. It was nice to let the kids eat out and enjoy a little down time before we headed to Wes's soccer game. His team was again very good and they won 2-0. I love watching Kindergarten soccer, it just makes me smile and laugh. The kids are so funny and not always into the game. There was a lot of chattering going on between the players.

As for the house I came home and finished caulking, painted 5 doors, painted bathroom trim, and did some wall touch ups. I am super excited to get carpet on Tuesday and start putting things back together. I am finally seeing the end of the tunnel.

The boss!

Yesterday on the way home in the car the boys and I where talking when Kathryn started yelling at us. The conversation went as follows:

Kat: "NO TALKING" "NO TALKING"

Mom: "Who do you think you are?"

Kat: "The boss"

The boys and I where laughing so hard. Kathryn obviously sees herself as being in charge. I just can't believe she understood what I was saying and that she new what "the boss" was. Rob didn't believe that she said the boss so he asked her who she was and again she said "the bossss". She truly is a character and keeps us laughing with a lot of her crazy comments.

Soccer

The boys soccer season started yesterday. The boys where so excited to start I just wish the weather would have cooperated. Wes was able to play his first game and got 2 of the teams 3 goals. They won and loved every minute of the game. He was constantly hopping up and down, and tried to be in the action. It was a lot of fun to watch.

Robbie's game was canceled but he did have a little practice while Wes was playing his game. He was disappointed that he didn't have a game especially since he has to miss his Saturday game. Hopefully the weather will be better by the next time he has a game.

We all froze and where glad that we only had one game instead of two to sit through. The wind made it almost unbearable to sit and watch the game.

35 Weeks

Getting bigger and more uncomfortable everyday. It is nice to know that I probably only have about 4 weeks left. I am also relieved that we are done with all the big things in the basement. So that as soon as we get carpet I can really start getting prepared for this new little girl.

Sore/Basement Update

Well, we have been working really hard on the basement and I am so sore everyday. We have almost finished all the painting. We have the boys room left to paint trim, the book shelves and TV stand need to be painted. I have tiled the bathroom floor, the entry way to the garage and the bottom of the fireplace. I hope to finish the tile work this week and the painting. We are waiting on carpet, we have picked what we like but may not be able to get it for two weeks. I am hoping that I can start taking it a little easier now that we are getting close to be done. I am tired and my body needs a break.
