Temple Open House

We took the kids to the open house of the Oquirrh Mountain Temple last week. It was a lot more pleasant than the Draper Temple where we felt like cattle. It was busy but mellow and moved at a faster pace so the kids didn't get bored. It was beautiful!! Westin loved all the pictures of Jesus, Tanner and Robbie couldn't get over the chandlers shaped as "stars". I was very glad we where able to take the kids and hopefully they will remember the experience some day.

24th of July

The 24th was spent completely with family. We had lunch with Rob's family and got to spend some time with his brother and his family, they are visiting from Japan. The boys were glad to spend some time with their cousin Spencer. It was great to see everyone and are glad that Zach and Andrea are in town.

Later that day we headed to my mom's house for dinner and fireworks. We had a great time meeting some more of Papa's family who were visiting. The kids loved the fireworks and playing outside. I just love to spend the day with family.

Kathryn's How Big?

We had Kathryn's six month check up today, and everything is great. The only bad part was the shots, she hates those things.

Family Pictures

We had some pictures taken at the beginning of the month. Here are a few of them. The last one is my favorite family one, and I love the one of Kathryn. The boys where not great, so I was surprised that we got at least a couple of good ones. As for all four kids we will need to work on getting a better one, Kathryn was to wiggle at that point.

Scouts

Well it is official Robbie starts scouts this year. He went to scout camp on Monday and Tuesday of this week. He had a ton of fun. He was able to shoot bow and arrows, slingshots, and do an obstacle course. He made a mask and pet rocks, and bought lots of fun little toys from the store. He is so excited to start going every week, but to be honest him starting scouts makes me feel old.

Oh, on another note Robbie got a grand idea to shave his hair. He jumped out of the shower and was heading downstairs when I spotted his hair. There was a huge bare spot on the back of his head. He had taken my razor and ran it over his hair. Luckily there are only a few bare spots, and most of them are small, there is only the one big spot. He will be needing a haircut now.

6 Months

Kathryn is 6 months old today! My time has time flown by or what. She has one tooth and the second very close to break through the gums. She is sitting up, and rolling to where ever she wants to go. She is very ticklish, and we all love to hear her laugh. Wes's favorite thing is to through a ball in the air and watch her giggle when he catches it. She loves to eat!! She actually tries to take my food away as I'm eating, so needless to say we have started to give her a few table foods. Her favorite baby food his sweet potatoes, she even liked them more then bananas, pears, and of course peas are not to her liking. She has started taking a sippy cup and loves to do it her self. She started liking her binky while we where at my sister's. I have mixed feelings about this as I am not looking forward to take that baby away. Her hair is finally starting to grow, it is maybe a quarter of an inch long, and lighter then I thought it would be. We all still think having a girl is pretty cool, and Rob thinks that girls are just trouble, he has know idea of what lies a head.

Idaho

We travelled the ten hours to go and visit my sister. The car ride up wasn't to bad, we left at 4 am so the kids would sleep the first four or five hours. Kathryn did fairly well, except for a while some one had to be in the back talking and playing with her. She did take some long naps which was perfect.

While up there we went to the lake several days, and the kids loved tubing, swimming, play on the beach; and of course jumping, flipping and mastering their cannon balls off the boat. Papa even got in on the action. I loved Wes's belly flops, and he was so proud of them. Robbie got the flips down and Tan well he was like Ani and wanted to ease into the freezing cold water. They loved being able to spend time with there cousin.

We went and did a little bit of hiking. We all love to hike well most of us. Rob stayed behind to work. I loved watching the kids interact, Tanner and Ani sat and held hands, they all shared snacks and water. We didn't have any problems except for Robbie hiking to fast and leaving us in the dust. It is so pretty!

The two older boys and Ani got to go to a golf camp that Uncle Brandan was teaching. They loved it, after the lesson they all had to come home and teach Wes everything that they had learned. They had a lot of fun, until Robbie hit himself with a golf club, he had quit the goose egg on the side of his head. But they all can hit the ball pretty well now.

We got to celebrate my sisters birthday with a movie, bowling, and cake. It was a rainy day and got down to 66 degrees (I think). But it was a nice break from the hot sun. I loved being able to spend so much time with my sister. I have really missed having her around.

The last day was spent mostly relaxing at Jen's house. We did manage to go to the park and let the kids run through the water fountains there. Rob was able to go golfing one more time. That night we went in the backyard to roast marshmallows and visit. I just love to spend time around the fire.

All in all it was a great trip. The only downsides where the fact that Rob worked everyday, and didn't get to do as much with us. Charlie thought it was fun to sneak out under the back fence and prowl the neighborhood. Oh and the fact that Papa's hearing aide got ruined and he couldn't hear for a couple of days(good thing he can read lips)

Thank you mom and Jennie for the amazing time!

Fourth of July

I know I am a tad late but better late then never right? So as Rob was down for the the weekend we opted for a quite fourth. The kids and I headed to the ward breakfast which was delicious. The kids had fun running around with the other kids, while I was able to visit. It was a great way to get out of the house (we hadn't left since Rob's surgery).

We then had our parents over for dinner. My mom was great and made most of the food, I didn't have to do anything. We ate and did some fireworks in the backyard. The boys where excited because they got to light most of them as dad was out of commotion. After dinner the boys and Rob went over to Jordan with Gibba to watch the Sandy fireworks. I was able to put Kathryn down for bed and go to bed myself, as I wasn't feeling very good. All in all it was a good Fourth and the kids had a lot of fun.

A New Nose

Rob had surgery today on his nose. He had a horrible deviated septum which made it difficult to breathe through his nose. We had to be at the hospital at 7:00am. Everyone was very nice which was great because this was Rob's first surgery. He was a trooper, he had a sense of humor even though he was in a ton of pain. He has been very easy to care for today as he has slept all day. He will be on the couch for a few days as he can't lay flat on his back, but that just means I get he bed to myself. He looks great to, ha ha, he has to wear a nose sling to hold gauze under his nose so that the blood can drip into it. His eyes are a little puffy, his front teeth and throat are sore, but hopefully all this pain will be worth it. I am hoping that he will be able to breathe out of his nose and possibly not snore anymore.

Some funny tidbits to remember:

  • One Doctor jocking about heroine addictions, welfare, and chocolate cake.

  • Rob asking the nurse if she wanted his IV.

  • Rob trying to eat his dinner.

  • The boys constantly asking if Rob is feeling better.

  • Robbie's look on his face when he saw Rob with the nose sling.

School's Out!!

Robbie is finally done with school. He did a great job in first grade. He got almost all fours with a few threes. He is reading above grade level, and finally enjoys to read. It is a little weird having a kid who is reading chapter books, he loves adventure and science books. He is a very smart kid and we are so proud of him. He also got the golden falcon award at school ( the picture). We are all so excited for summer to begin.

Swimming

We went to our cousins and played in the pool last Saturday, the sun was great and the kids got out all their extra energy. Kathryn got in the pool for the first time and loved it. I think we will have another water baby on our hands. The boys played so well together and tried very hard to keep cousin Henry happy. I am amazed on a daily basis at how wonderful and sweet my boys are, they are so considerate of others, helpful and a whole lot of fun. Thanks Corrie for lots of fun and a great lunch.

Tanner's New Friend

Grandad got a new Peregrine Falcon and the kids where so excited to meet it for the first time. Tanner decided to sit on the ground and see if the bird would jump into his lap. The bird decided that it liked Tanner's hair a lot more then his lap. Tan was very brave and didn't move even though the bird was scratching his forehead. He is definitely my animal lover, and a tough kid to boot.
