When I grow up....
Cabin

We had a great time at the cabin this last weekend. We where glad to spend time with my family. The kids had a blast hiking, making a bonfire with Nana, making walking sticks with Grandad, and playing games with Grandmother. Kathryn had a lot of fun hiking, but she likes to be held and is defiantly spoiled with so many people around. I enjoyed visiting, hiking, the fall leaves, playing games until midnight, and of course eating. Thanks for the good times family!

8 Months

Kathryn turned eight months on Monday. I can't believe how fast the time has gone. She is starting to pull her self up to a standing. She thinks this is pretty cool especially when she is suppose to be napping. She is babbling a lot more and has finally started yelling mom. She has five teeth and three more are coming in. I have started to wean her which was hard because she didn't like the taste of the first formula that we tried. She loves to eat! She wants everything and will try and grab it from you. She loves to read books, cuddle and rock in the rocking chair. We just love this little girl!
The Zoo

We headed to the zoo on Monday, yes I checked Robbie out of school so we could have one last day with Jen and Ani. The zoo was a blast. The baby animals where so much fun to watch. Almost all the animals where active. The elephant was so cute, as was the giraffe, but our favorite was the snow leopard cub. It was playing, and pouncing. We sat and watched it forever. Even Kathryn thought it was the greatest. She would squall and yell at it. I think she was trying to say dog, because she was yelling the same thing she yells at Charlie. The boys loved seeing Ani and wish we could see her more often. We already miss them.
50 years young

My mom turns 50 this week, so we spent the weekend surprising her. First my sister flew in and surprised my mom. It was great to see the tears roll down her face as she realized that Jen and Ani had come. We then had a big family dinner at my house, complete with cake and ice cream.
Saturday the girls spent the day having lunch and shopping. There is nothing better than shopping with my two best friends. I love spending time with my mom and sister. Even Kathryn enjoyed the shopping. (She was all giggles)
Sunday we had a surprise brunch with some of my mom's closest friends and family. Market Street breakfast was wonderful and the room was beautiful. The kids had a blast running on the top deck and I think my mom really enjoyed seeing everyone. We then headed to her house to reminisce, there was lots of laughing.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!

Crawling
Kathryn has started crawling. It is a funny crawl and the boys joke that her leg is broken. But she is getting around just fine and getting faster every day.
Honestly
Robbie got home from school today and mentioned to the neighbor that he had a rock in his ear, I over heard and shook my head. I brushed the comment off as a tease or being goofy. Well later as I am in the middle of dinner Robbie looks at me and says mom I have a rock in my ear. "What? You can't have a rock in your ear." I mean honestly who gets rocks in their ear. Well, Robbie does. Sure enough a rock is lodged in his ear. I tried for one brief moment to get it with tweezers but no luck it just went a little deeper. We headed for the doctors. After lots of tears and a bleeding ear it finally came out. This rock was huge, I have no idea how he managed to get it in his ear or how he managed to get it so deep.
He claims some kid tripped him and then started kicking rocks but I am still baffled at how such a big rock could get stuck in some one's ear. He kept the rock to show dad and luckily it didn't puncture the ear drum. But really a rock in the ear I thought we had gone back several years when the kids thought it was great to stick things up their noses.

Labor Day Weekend
Saturday: We went to a movie(G Force) with Grandma and Papa. The boys loved the movie and had a great time. Then we ran errands and had a great spaghetti dinner(Tanner's favorite).
Sunday: Church is starting to get hard with Kathryn. Her morning nap is usually right about 9:00 so we get to church get through the sacrament and then I spend the rest of the meeting trying to get her to sleep. She finally fell asleep during the closing song. Now we could go to Sunday school except for the fact that if I sit down she wakes up immediately. So I spend more than have of church bouncing and rocking. Relief Society was nice because Rob took her with him, I was able to sit and try to focus on the lesson. I was so exhausted by the time I got home that as soon as Kathryn was down for her nap I crashed. We went to dinner at Rob's parents and played games.
Monday: We headed to Cecret Lake for a hike. It was packed, we had to wait for a shuttle to take us to the hike entrance. It was beautiful and the kids had a ton of fun with Zack and Lucas. It was nice to have the older boys who were very good at keeping track of the younger boys. I attempted to carry Kathryn all the way up but didn't make it. Walt ended up caring 1/3 of the way up and all the way down. Instead of waiting for the shuttle on the way down we hiked the meadows trail down. We where told it was about a mile but no I think when we checked it was more like 2 1/2. We did get to see 3 moose, 2 bulls and 1 cow. The boys thought that was pretty cool and I am always in awe of how big they are.
We then had another great dinner at Grandma's. My mom and I ended up doing a little beading and then it was time to go home and crash. Everyone was so tired Tuesday morning that I had to wake Robbie up. Westin and Kathryn didn't get up till after 8:30. My body is still feeling the after math and I really need to get in shape. (where is the energy for that?)

First Day of Preschool

Westin started preschool this afternoon. He was so excited to start. I am so glad that he loves school. I am also so glad that preschool is only 2 minutes away. It will really make my life easier, as Tanner got switched to afternoon kindergarten. Now I will have two days a week with only the baby, who takes a nap(now if I can only get the energy to clean or be productive).
My house is way to quiet, it is a little unnerving.

Kindergarten

Tanner finally started Kindergarten today, so exciting. For the first time ever Tanner actually came home from school and said that he liked it, can you imagine he actually liked school. Hopefully he will learn to love it soon, but one step at a time, Right?
I have to admit that my house was a little to quite with one child napping and the other playing downstairs by himself. I was able to get through all my emails, start updating my blog, and weed the front flower beds. I don't know what I'll do when all the kids are in school. It is nice to be back to a routine though.
Hiking

Last Saturday I decided I needed to get the kids out of the house and me off my butt, so we decided on a hike. We hiked up bell canyon, not to far up. We reached the little lake and then let the kids throw rocks in, what kid doesn't love throwing rocks. We where glad the Caitlin came, and grateful for our pack mule PAPA! I have to say hiking is easier when some one else carries the babe. Papa may not have much hair left on the back of his head, but Kathryn enjoyed the ride.
